The appealing characteristic of Mauritius and the fiscal incentive offered by the Government have attracted international hotel chains such as Hilton, Oberoi, Sofitel, Méridien, Maritim and Taj. In December 2004, three new hotels opened in the south of the island, at Bel Ombre, adding some new high class resorts to the Mauritian tourism industry namely Telfair Golf & Spa Ressort, Heritage Golf & Spa and Voile d’Or Resort & Spa.
