The Museum of Natural history Located in Port-Louis, it occupies a historical building classified, constructed in 1842. They can see the skeleton of the Dodo as well as other missing birds, and the nice collection of specimens of marine kinds there. You will be able to admire a huge skull of sperm whale as well as a specimen of huge green turtle there.

The Sugar Adventure (Aventure Du Sucre) Having located in an ancient sugar plant at Beau Plan, near the Garden of Pamplemousses, this site is a wonder for the gourmands and gastronomes, but also for the amateurs of discoveries and history.

This open air museum pays tribute to the thousands of Mauritian who lived "the adventure of the sugar" by redrawing the history of the island up to its independence, by way of the different stage of colonization and sugar farms. Discovered by fields of sugar canes, tasting of sugars and rum are also in date!

The museum of textile industry "Floreal Square" Located in some few drive minutes drive of Curepipe, this small very well conceived museum redraws the evolution of subjects in the course of the centuries and stages leading to the manufacture of the new and ancient clothes. It is also possible to go in the engine room and to see the workers working.

The museum Robert Edward Hart (1891-1954) Located in Souillac, this museum is located in the residence of the poet. Main interest is the architecture of the home constructed in coral with a nice view on the sea. The work of Robert Edward Hart is acknowledged today as to be being one of the richest of the French-speaking literature of Indian Ocean.

The Blue Penny Museum This very new museum, located in Caudan Waterfront in Port-Louis, displays two of the rarest stamps between others in the world, lit 10 minutes an hour owing to their fragility. One can also find an important collection of works of art manifesting the diversity of Mauritian artistic creation.

The museum of the Photograph Installed in a pretty warehouse which belongs to the Municipality of Port-Louis, the Museum of the Photograph has an impressive collection of the ancient photographs, the era of photographic equipment and of very nice postcards. This place of memory is unquestionably one of the places where it is absolutely necessary to stop if they want to rediscover the previous Island of Mauritius.


The Museum of tea Located in Main pool, this museum offers to discover the property of Beloved Wood which appears among the first producers of Tea in the Mauritius Island. Today opened to the public, this property opens the doors of its plant and of its plantations. Overhanging the lake on the one hand and the valleys of the southeast of other one, this visit allows to discover the history of tea in Mauritius, while going for a walk among numerous indigenes plants and exotic trees of the property.
