There is a great variety of restaurants in Mauritius and anyone can find any kind of dishes to satisfy their appetite. The variety range from simple Indian food, creole, Chinese or European Pizza. The Mauritian cuisine originates from different countries among which are China, India, Africa and Europe. Visitors from overseas are amazed that they can often taste a variety of foods in one single restaurant.
The Mauritian cuisine is also a gastronomy of the island's speciality composed of dishes based on fish, exotic recipes. For the Indians there are curry masala, bryani (hot or soft, vegetarian or non- vegetarian), for the Chinese, there are chow mien (fried noddles which is very popular in Mauritius) and for the creole there are the most savoury chicken rougail.
For those who enjoy fish and sea foods, they will be satisfied with (vieilles rouge, sacre chien, capitaine, camarons, crabes, smoked fish). For deserts, one banana can prove to be a very good choice. However, the exotic fruits are in abundance on the island.

The secret recipe of KFC crispy strips:

6 chicken breasts
One cup of milk
One beaten egg
2 cups of all purpose flour
3/4 tsp of pepper
2.5 tsp of salt
3/4 tsp chicken stop powder
1/8 paprika
1/8 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp garlic powder
Let us get our hand dirty.
1. Start by cutting the 6 chicken breasts into strips. This is the key to success. The strips should not be too thin or too thick. Give it a nice sharp cut.
2. Marinate the strips overnight with garlic, pepper, paprika and salt.
3. Preheat the shortening in deep fry to 35deg or preheat vegetable oil in deep fry to 175 deg.
4. In meantime, beat one egg and one cup of milk.
5. Dip the chicken into the egg mixture and coat it delicately in the baking powder.
6. Fry in deep fry at a time till they are golden brown. It should be around 5 minutes. Do not fry more than needed or the taste will evaporate.
7. Remove the chicken with precaution.
8. Allow the chicken to drain for 5 minutes. In case oil is still dripping then press the chicken into a soft cloth to remove excess oil.
